This month at Gauge we are happy to announce the lovely and talented Cathy Altman will return to offer chair massage.  You can drop in or schedule your appointments now.  That's Saturday, August 2 and August 16, starting at 11AM.

We are also pleased to announce that this month will find both Berroco and Brown Sheep yarns arriving at Gauge!  We will let you know when the new yarns begin to arrive.

Classes this month:

Saturday, August 9.  11AM-1PM.  Modular Knitting Back by popular demand Part I of Jane Lippmann's workshop.  Jane will help you understand the basics of modular knitting, mitering squares, and turning this technique into anything you can imagine.   For those of you who've already taken Part I of this amazing workshop, Part II's date will be announced later this month.  $30

Also Saturday, August 9.  3:30PM-4:30PM.   Design Your Own this new series will offer participants the option to design their own knitted anything.  We'll discuss fiber choices, knit swatches, and create original designs for scarves, shawls, baby blankets, bags…   $15 

Saturday, August 16.  11AM-1PM. Finishing Learn basic techniques to help solve your finishing mysteries.  We will review sewing in ends, mattress stitch, picking up stitches, and several other need to knows.  Bring unfinished projects if you have them and we'll get you started finishing. $30

Saturday, August 23.  11AM-1PM.  Socks PART I Get started knitting socks.  Learn basic sock anatomy and all the tools you'll need to get you knitting socks.  This class will have two parts.  We want to help you knit a pair!  $30

Gauge Newsletter June

Here’s what we’ve got worked out for our calendar of events:

Steadily approaching us is World Wide Knit in Public Day. That’s June 14, 11AM at the State Capitol’s main/south entrance on the steps. Look for Gauge ladies in pink. For those of you picking up shirts, they’ll be here at the shop Friday at 11AM. If that doesn’t work for you, phone. We’ll arrange something else.
After the capitol, don’t forget the gathering at Gauge. We’ll continue the knit in public here at the shop 2:30 until 6PM.

CLASSES: this month’s Saturday classes will be on simple techniques to employ all year long. In each of the following classes we will knit washcloths but the techniques can be used for anything - throws, scarves, shawls, sweaters, socks, bags, pillows…
All classes will be $30 and require un-mercerized cotton and the needle needed to knit it. We’ll have supplies available, too.

June 14 11-1PM Learn to Log Cabin
You’ll learn a tidy little selvedge to use on any project, and techniques to make a beautiful log cabin washcloth/prototype for your future log cabin project.
